Our Core Humanitarian Principles

Our Core Humanitarian Principles Are Humanity, Neutrality, Impartiality, And Independence, In Accordance With The United Nations General Assembly Resolutions 46/182.
(A) HUMANITARIAN
Principle #1 – HUMANITY:- Human Suffering Must Be Addressed Wherever It Is Found In Kogi State. The Purpose Of Humanitarian Action Is To Protect Life And Health, And Ensure Respect For Human Beings, With Particular Attention To The Most Vulnerable Populations – Children, Women, And The Aged. The Rights Of All Victims Must Be Protected.

Principle #2 – NEUTRALITY:- Kogi State Humanitarian Actors Shall Not Take Sides In Hostilities Or Engage In Controversies Of A Political, Racial, Tribal, Religious, Or Ideological Nature.

Principle #3 – IMPARTIALITY:- Humanitarian Assistance In Kogi State Shall Be Carried Out On The Basis Of Need Alone, Giving Priority To The Most Urgent Cases Of Distress Need, Making No Distinction On The Basis Of Region, Race, Gender, Religious Belif, Class Or Political Opinions.

Principle #4 INDEPENDENCE:Humanitarian Actions In Kogi State Shall Be Autonoaious From Political, Economic, Military, Or Other Cbjectives That Any Actorsnmay Hold Political, Economic, Military, Or Other Objectives That Any Actors May Hold That Compromises The Ability To Act In Accordance With The Core Principles.

(B) POVERTY
Principle #1: The Importance Of Work
In Light Of Rising Unemployment, It’s Crucial To Recognize The Value Of Work. Creating Jobs Is Essential In The Fight Against Poverty, As Employment Promotes Human Dignity And The Well-Being Of Communities. The Government Should Not Demonize The Wealthy, Successful, Business Owners, Or Entrepreneurs. Instead, It Should Provide Tools To Help The Poor Find Jobs And Become Qualified For Them.

Principle #2: The Importance Of Moral Proximity
We Have A Greater Responsibility To Those With Whom We Share Closer Relationships. Moral Proximity Takes Into Account The Security Challenges Involved With Being Close To Those In Extreme Poverty. It Is Determined By Relationships Rather Than Geography. The Kogi State Government Should Prioritize Actions Based On Where It Has The Greatest Responsibility And Where Its Time And Resources Can Be Most Effective.

Principle #3: The Importance Of Giving
These Principles Hold Little Value Unless We Prioritize Generous And Even Sacrificial Giving To Those In Need. Through Conditional Transfer Schemes And Other Forms Of Palliatives, We Can Increase Households’ Adaptive Capacity By Accumulating Productive Assets, Improving Human Capital Development, And Ultimately Breaking The Cycle Of Intergenerational Poverty.
