In a strong show of unity and commitment to peace, stakeholders, traditional rulers, elders, and youths of Achigili community in Emewe Ward, Dekina Local Government Area, have joined forces with the Kogi State Government to resolve the long-standing dispute that has affected the area for years.

A peace and reconciliation meeting was convened at the residence of Achadu Ofojor in Achigili, drawing together key government officials, community leaders, and concerned citizens, all determined to chart a new path of harmony and understanding for the community.

Prominent figures at the meeting included the Auditor General of Kogi State, Alhaji Y.Y. Okala; the Executive Chairman of Dekina Local Government, Hon. John Urah Ikani; the Kogi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Hajia Rabiatu Okute (Iye Ebule Onyete); the Member representing Dekina/Biraidu Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Usman Ochidi (Powerful); the Onu of Abocho, H.R.H. Chief Jonah Idrisu Okai (Ayidu); the Onu of Ogbologwu of Emewe, Chief Mathew Daikwo (Dooga); the Onu Ojomi; as well as Achadu Ofojor, the Gago, the Madaki, elders, and youth representatives of the community, among others.

During the deliberations, all parties expressed their commitment to embracing peace and adhering to the resolutions reached to ensure lasting stability in Achigili. The dialogue, held in a calm and constructive atmosphere, reflected the shared desire for unity and progress among the people.


In her remarks, Hon. Hajia Rabiatu Okute (Iye Ebule Onyete) commended the proactive efforts of Dekina stakeholders and traditional institutions in mediating the conflict. She emphasized that peace remains the bedrock of development, adding that no meaningful growth can be achieved in an environment plagued by tension and division.

The Honourable Commissioner reaffirmed the Ododo-led administration’s commitment to supporting every initiative aimed at promoting peace, stability, and improved livelihoods across communities in Kogi State. She urged the people of Achigili, particularly the youths, to shun violence and embrace dialogue as the only sustainable path to resolving disputes.

She concluded by encouraging continued collaboration between government authorities, traditional leaders, and the community in sustaining the current momentum toward peace and progress, assuring that with collective effort, Achigili and Dekina LGA will continue to thrive in unity and development.
